Body Groove
I stumbled onto Body Groove by accident a few years ago during the Pandemic. Like most of the world, I was looking for some kind of exercise I could do online.
And I was also looking for something that would help me move differently because I was becoming stiff and achy from just walking my dog.
While the promotional material about Body Groove is focused primarily on weight loss, it’s sooo much more.
For me, the best part about Body Groove is how it makes me feel. I expected to gain improvement in flexibility, energy, and strength. But I didn’t expect to feel more confident, happy, and relaxed as well. This is because Body Groove is not just a workout platform, it is a body-positive lifestyle platform that is specifically designed to help you live a more joyful and balanced life.
The creator, Misty Tripoli, has developed a literal and figurative movement dedicated to making dance accessible and fun for everyone and anyone. “We come together to unite, celebrate, connect, play, heal, and get healthy through dance,” Tripoli says, which brings Body Groove right into alignment with living the S.P.A. Life.
TBH, I was quite hesitant to try Body Groove at first because, personally, for whatever reason, I just cannot do the choreography of Zumba, Aerobics, or anything else like that.
But Body Groove isn’t like other dance exercise programs that make you follow a fast and complicated exercise routine. The dance leaders give you super simple dance steps—like step and tap your toe, step and tap your toe—and from there you are sassily and lovingly encouraged to explore your own creativity. As they say repeatedly, there’s no way to get it wrong!
Body Groove has hundreds of workouts in all flavors from Spicy Latin to Kids & Family Grooves and everything in between including meditations and coaching that you can do from the comfort and privacy of your own home. You can do as many or as few dances in each workout as you want to. Onscreen, you’ll see others making modifications so you can see how to adjust your movements to meet your own needs.
You can also join live, group sessions and workshops through the parent organization The World Groove Movement and learn more about wellness and self-care in person.
Both Body Groove and the World Groove Movement can be found on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter. “Live” Zoom sessions happen periodically, so get connected and check them out!
I highly recommend Body Groove and the World Groove Movement to anyone who loves to dance or just wants to feel good about themselves and their bodies. It’s a great way to groove your way into greater well-being.
