The Calm app

The Calm app is an award-winning and visually impressive mental health, stress, and sleep improvement web app. I found it very pleasant to use both on desktop and phone and very straightforward in all things, including the subscribing/unsubscribing process.

It has a lot of well-thought out and crafted content and tools for daily use:

  • A broad selection of relaxing nature scenes and sound tracks

  • A therapeutic music discography

  • Expert-led guided meditations and wellness masterclasses

  • A library of “Sleep Stories” narrated by many Hollywood and sports celebrities

  • And, my favorite, the Daily Move, with exercises that help your body help your mind

  • Similar, age-appropriate content and tools are also available for kids

Beyond all these features, the Calm app can also help you track your progress and is updated often  with fresh new content.

Pricing

I enjoyed a 90-day free trial which was long enough to learn and explore how to best use the app. I’m not sure if this time-period is the norm, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the premium features.

After the trial period, there are monthly or annual subscription options for you to choose from. And most refreshingly, unlike some other wellness apps, you can easily unsubscribe/resubscribe at any time.

Calm.com also has a selection of free resources similar to those found on the app that are available for everyone. Called the Essentials, these resources are only accessible from the blog on the website: (https://www.calm.com/blog/essentials) but not from the app. You can also access the Essentials from the Blog link in the footer of the website.

Recommendation

I can heartily recommend the Calm app. All the content and tools, from guided meditations, grounding practices, sleeping aids, and movement exercises are designed to help you take better care of your mental health.

The subscription prices are very reasonable and affordable. And, coupled with their transparent and easy subscription process, it’s clear that the company has your best mental health interests at heart and wants to make resources accessible—up to and including offering free resources for those in need. Bravo, Calm.com! So, sign up for your free trial and explore!
